Penelitian ini membahas budaya Bhoka dalam pernikahan adat masyarakat
Buton di Desa Tanailandu dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana dalam perspektif Al-
„Urf sebagai salah satu dasar dalam memahami tradisi masyarakat. Bhoka
merupakan sistem adat yang mengatur pemberian mahar oleh pihak laki-laki
kepada keluarga pihak perempuan berdasarkan stratifikasi sosial dan warisan
budaya Kesultanan Buton. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui
bagaimana praktik Bhoka dijalankan dalam masyarakat serta bagaimana tradisi ini
dikaji dalam perspektif Al„Urf. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif
dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan
dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Bhoka memiliki makna
simbolis dan historis yang kuat dalam masyarakat Tanailandu, dan tetap
dilestarikan meskipun telah mengalami penyesuaian seiring perkembangan
zaman. Dalam perspektif Al„Urf, Bhoka dianggap sebagai kebiasaan yang sah
selama tidak bertentangan dengan prinsip-prinsip syariah, terutama dalam hal
keadilan, kerelaan, dan tidak memberatkan pihak laki-laki. Penelitian ini
menunjukkan bahwa pelestarian tradisi lokal seperti Bhoka mencerminkan
pentingnya pengakuan terhadap kebiasaan masyarakat sebagai bagian dari sistem
sosial yang hidup dan terus berkembang.

This study discusses the Bhoka culture in the traditional marriage of the
Buton community in Tanailandu Village and to find out how in the perspective of
Al-'Urf as one of the bases in understanding community traditions. Bhoka is a
customary system that regulates the giving of dowry by the man to the woman's
family based on social stratification and cultural heritage of the Buton Sultanate.
The purpose of this study is to find out how the Bhoka practice is carried out in
society and how this tradition is studied from the perspective of Al'Urf. This study
uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through observation,
interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that Bhoka has a
strong symbolic and historical meaning in the Tanailandu community, and is still
preserved even though it has undergone adjustments over time. In the perspective
of Al'Urf, Bhoka is considered a legitimate custom as long as it does not conflict
with sharia principles, especially in terms of justice, willingness, and does not
burden the man. This study shows that the preservation of local traditions such as
Bhoka reflects the importance of recognizing community customs as part of a
living and evolving social system.
