Irma Risnawati. SID. 17010106015. Female EFL Pre-Service Teachers’
Challenges during Field Teaching Practice at Junior High School. Supervised by:

This qualitative study is aimed at discovering the challenges encountered by
female EFL pre-service teachers during their field teaching practice at junior high
school. There were 4 female pre-service teachers from English Education Department
at the eight semesters as the participants in this study. The data of this study was
gathered by using reflection sheet.The reflection sheet was in questions form and
consisted mainly of five questions made by researcher. The reflection sheet distributed
by link Google Form via WhatsApp. In reflection, participants answered questions
related to Female EFL Pre-service teachers‟ challenges during field teaching practice
at junior high school.The reflection sheet will be distributed to the respondents and
giving about 2-3 days to fill and answer the questions in the reflection sheet. After
that, the data result will be analyzed.The finding revealed various kinds of challenges
faced by the female pre-service teachers in junior high school. The participants shared
their first obstacles or difficulties when they field survey at school, the strategy to
approach the students, the challenges in managing the class well, the obstacles to
teaching students in different characters, and the challenges in teaching English during
the teaching practice process.Based on the research results and conclusions, there are
things that are necessarybe suggestions. First, female PSTs‟ should be trained more
during pre-teaching lessons to anticipate what unexpected thing that probably happen
during the teaching practice such as the to controlling over the classroom, how to
interact with learners. Second, female PSTs‟ make careful preparations before carrying
out the teaching process so that the teaching process becomes more effective such as
preparing all tools and materials or teaching media. The last, female PSTs‟ is even
more creative in designing teaching materials to increase students' enthusiasm for
learning.
