Abstract

The research was conducted with the aim of finding out the processes, techniques and advantages and disadvantages of learning Arabic through WhatsApp media for 12th grade students of Religion online (on the network) during the COVID-19 pandemic at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Kolaka. This type of research uses qualitative research. Data collection uses 3 techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. In this study, the data collected were the principal (1 person), Arabic language teacher (2 people), and grade 12 Religion students (10 people). The results of the study indicate that 1) the process of learning Arabic through WhatsApp by means of the teacher preparing teaching materials in the form of making videos or recording voices containing explanations of the material to be taught. 2) The techniques used in learning Arabic through WhatsApp are lecture, question and answer and assignment techniques. 3) the benefits and drawbacks of whatsapp: (a) the benefits are to help educators and students in online learning during the covid- 19 pandemic, while the drawback is that students have difficulty understanding the learning materials that have been given by educators. Whatsapp helps educators and students in learning Arabic through online while learning is done from home.
