Abstract

The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the role of mini-banks laboratory in
increasing students' knowledge of Islamic banking operations at the Islamic Economics and
Business Faculty, IAIN Kendari; (2) Describe the obstacles and efforts of mini banks
laboratory in increasing students' knowledge of Islamic banking operations at the Faculty of
Islamic Economics and Business IAIN Kendari. This type of research is a field research
(Field Research) using three data collection techniques, namely observation, interviews and
documents. The data analysis technique used in qualitative research is descriptive analysis.
The results showed that: (1) The role of mini banks laboratory in increasing students'
knowledge of Islamic banking operations at the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business
IAIN Kendari, namely: first, a practicum place for students of Islamic Economics and Islamic
banking study programs related to Islamic banking operations; Second, a place for
debriefing and training related to sharia banking operations; (2) Several obstacles for mini
banks laboratory in providing knowledge related to sharia banking operations, namely
inadequate facilities, lack of practice schedules; and the lack of socialization of the role of
mini-banks and mini-banks that rarely operate. Meanwhile, the efforts made include
increasing cooperation with other parties, especially sharia banking and Bank Indonesia,
providing supporting facilities, involving students in the management of Mini Banks; and
Preparation of SOPs in banking operations in order to create good management.
