Abstract

Trader behavior is a person's attitude or action in carrying out trading activities. In
carrying out buying and selling transactions, Islam has provided various procedures and how
a trader should behave in carrying out buying and selling transactions in accordance with
Islamic principles. However, after a field survey, many traders did not apply Islamic
economic transaction ethics in trading, such as those at Long Bonggoeya Market, Kendari
City.
This research aims to answer the problem of how vegetable traders behave at the
Panjang Bonggoeya Market, Kendari City, what the ethics of vegetable traders are at the
Panjang Bonggoeya Market, Kendari City, and how the transactions of vegetable traders at
the Panjang Bonggoeya Market, Kendari City, are conducted from an Islamic economic
perspective. This research is qualitative field research using a normative economic and
theological sociological approach.
The research results show: First, there are still a small number of vegetable traders who
are negligent in measuring and do not pay proper attention to the quality of the products
being traded. Second, the ethics of vegetable traders at the Panjang Bonggoeya Market,
Kendari City, have not fully implemented the principles of Islamic economic ethics.
According to buyers' views, some traders are still negligent, such as not perfecting the scales,
selling low quality products, and not applying khiyar in transactions. Third, transaction ethics
from an Islamic economic perspective in the Long Bonggoeya market have not been fully
implemented, because there is still fraud in transactions. So that the local government and
related parties are expected to play an active role in providing counseling and supervision to
traders in traditional markets about the importance of ethics in Islamic economic transactions.
