Abstract

Alviana Kadar, NIM.19010108012, Ethnobotany and Conservation
Behavior of the Bugis Ethnic as Biology Learning Media in Puumbolo
Village, North Kolaka Regency, supervised by: Dr. Jumardin La Fua

Ethnobotany has the potential to reveal the traditional knowledge of a
community or ethnic group regarding the diversity of biological resources,
conservation and culture. This study aims to (1) identify the types of plants
used in religious traditions among the Bugis people in Puumbolo Village,
North Kolaka Regency (2) find out the meaning of plants used in religious
traditions among the Bugis people in Puumbolo Village, North Kolaka
Regency (3) ) to find out the conservation behavior of plant use in religious
traditions in the Bugis community in Puumbolo Village, North Kolaka
Regency (4) to analyze the feasibility of using biology learning media used in
class X plantae material at SMA Negeri 2 Kendari. The method used in this
study is a qualitative method with data collection techniques through
observation, interviews and documentation. The data from this research were
processed and analyzed in a descriptive qualitative manner. Based on the
interview results, it was found that 24 plant species were used in the religious
tradition of the Bugis tribe in Puumbolo Village, North Kolaka Regency. The
results of the calculation of conservation behavior or the sustainability of
plant preservation so that they do not become extinct are by cultivating these
plants with a percentage of cultivated plants, namely as much as 94% (18
species) and plants that are not cultivated as much as 5% (1 species). Data on
the feasibility results of leaflet teaching materials on material plantae are
stated to be "Appropriate" to be used as teaching materials in the learning
process.
