Abstract

Hasnani. NIM. 15010108026. The Effect of Applying the Mind Mapping
Learning Model in Improving the Creative Thinking Ability of Biology
Students at MAN I Konawe Selatan. Supervised by: Rosmini S.Si, M.Pd.
This study aims (1) to determine students' creative thinking abilities before
beingtaught using conventional learning Mind Mapping learning (2) to determine
students' creative thinking abilities after being taught using conventional learning
Mind Mapping learning (3) to find out conventional teaching subjects are
effective in increasing students' creative thinking skills (4)To find out that Mind
Mapping learning is effective in improving students' higher-order thinking skills
(5) To find out that there are differences in students' creative thinking skills
improvement between students who are taught by Mind Mapping learning and
students who are taught by conventional learning. Mind mapping is a note-taking
technique that develops a visual learning style, mind maps integrate and develop
the working potential of the brain within a person.The population in this study
were students of class X IPA MAN 1 South Konawe who were spread over 4
parallel classes. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique
based on consideration of relatively the same class average values, then continued
with cluster random sampling so that class X IPA 1 was selected as the
experimental class and class X IPA 2 as the control class. the results of the study
show that before using Mind Mapping and conventional learning the average
value is not far away different, namely respectively 47.37 and 41.80 the average
value after Mind Mapping and conventional learning is 83.87 and 78.33.
Conventional learning is effective in improving students' creative thinking skills.
The results of the t-test analysis of one conventional learning sample obtained a
sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 ± 0.05 means that there is an average increase in students'
creative thinking abilities after being taught by conventional learning or
conventional learning is effective in increasing students' creative thinking
abilities. Mind Mapping learning is effective in improving students' higher-order
thinking skills. Based on the results of the t-test analysis of one sample, a
significance value is obtained before and after using Mind Mapping learning,
namely 0.000 ± 0.05, meaning that learning using Mind Mapping is effective in
increasing students' high-order thinking skills. Results of the sample test different
learning between Mind Mapping and conventional learning obtained a sig value of
0.112 > 0.05 meaning that there is no difference in the increase in creative
thinking skills between students taught by Mind Mapping learning and students
taught by conventional learning.
