Abstract

ABSTRACT
Erfida SID 17010106054 “Identifying Benefits of Reflective Journal for EFL
Teachers: A Narrative Review” Supervised by: Dr. Sitti Nurfaidah S.Pd., M.Ed.
and Sarjaniah Zur, S.Pd., M.Pd.
The major purpose of this narrative study is to discover the advantages of
reflective journals for EFL teachers. The data in this study are drawn from
documents that had been previously identified focusing on the narrative of benefit
of reflective journals for EFL teachers. The findings identified that in each journal
related to the benefit of reflective journal for EFL teachers. This study synthesized
the findings that satisfy the pre-determined feasibility through the synthesis matrix.
The findings from 10 articles revealed various benefits of teaching journals
obtained by EFL teachers, including improving pedagogy, dialogic tools, self�awareness (identifying strengths and weaknesses of the learning process),
evaluation tools, developing reflection and reasoning skills, constructing and
expanding personal understanding in class room, and understanding learners. This
study further emphasizes that there is a need for more approaches to see the benefit
of reflective journals.
