Abstract
This study intends to explore the challenges of EFL learners in preparing
digital comic content based on the final project during their fifth-semester in
foreign language teaching media class (FLTM). The participants were five EFL
learners who had finished their own digital comic. The online reflection and semi
structured interviews were used to obtained the qualitative data for the study. The
results of the data analysis indicated that there are two challenges in preparing
digital comic content, as first technology-oriented difficulties which consist of; a
lack of knowledge of digital tools, lots of digital tools that need to be applied,
some digital tools are inconvenient to access, and a lack of a good network, and
second design process which consists of; confused to determine the topic and the
concept, complicated to make a storyboard, and problems in recording voice. This
inquiry found that EFL learners have the most challenges in preparing digital
comic content at the stage design process. This study could specifically that
digital comic content can play a role in supporting the level of creativity of EFL
learners in making digital teaching media and guiding them that teaching media
nowadays is not only about flashcards, etc, but can be more innovative by using
technology.
