Abstract

ABSTRACT
Mitha Agus Pratiwi SID 16010106016. Students’ Perceptions of the Use of
English Instruction in the Classroom. Supervised by: Isna Humaera, S.Ag., S.Pd.,
M.Pd.
This study aims to investigate students’ perceptions on the use of English as a
medium of instruction by their teacher in the classroom. The participants of this
study consisted of 10 female students in the second semester of English education
major in one of the Islamic higher education in Kendari academic year 2019/2020
that were selected based on their classroom who applied English instruction the
most and they are capable enough in understanding that English instruction. The
qualitative data were used in analyzing the data that consisted of an instrument
which is a semi-structured interview. The result of this study revealed that the use
of English instruction in class is very good in improving students’ English skill
since it is very effective for learning English, increasing students’ vocabulary,
listening skill, and also increase their motivation in learning English. Furthermore,
the students revealed that by using English instruction in classroom, they started
to accustom in using English language.
