Abstract

Apdal SID. 16010106092. EFL Student‟s Anxiety in Speaking Classroom.
Supervised by: Sarjaniah Zur, S.Pd.I., M.Pd. and Dewi Atikah, M.A.TESOL.
The case study aims to find out the factors of EFL students‟ anxiety in
speaking classroom. The study use qualitative design with questionnaire and
reflection as the instrument to collect the data. The participants of this study
consist of five students from first semester of the English Departments of class B
in the academic years 2022-2023 by purposive sampling. Student‟s anxiety also
relates to the psychological condition of students, including mental and student
thinking. This research conducted three factors, communication apprehension,
anxiety in speaking tests, and fear of negative evaluation. This study found that
there are three factors cause students to be anxious when speaking namely
communication apprehension, test anxiety, and fear of negative evaluation.
Anxiety in speaking test was very influential for students to feel anxious in the
classroom. This is the speaking test has an impact on students‟ scores which
ultimately gives high anxiety for the average students.
