Dila Aprilia. SID. 19010106077. English Teachers' Assessment Types in English
Classroom: EFL Pre-service Teachers' Observational Experiences. Supervised by
Dr. Sitti Nurfaidah, S.Pd., M.Ed., and Nur Hasanah Safei, M.Pd.
This study aims to identify what types of assessment the teachers used in
assessing students' progress or understanding in the English classroom
instructional context. To explore this aim, the study was conducted in Indonesia
context, employing a case study method to assess English teachers' assessment
types. The data is drawn from eighteen EFL pre-service teachers' reflective focus
group discussions (FGD) and interviews. The data were collected through the
Zoom application and Google Drive. The data were analyzed using thematic
analysis. The findings indicated that most of the assessment types used by English
teachers in assessing students' progress or understanding are formative
assessments and summative assessments. This study implies that it is helpful for
teachers to use various tools in applying assessment types in English classrooms
that are suitable for the students’ characteristics and classroom management.
