Kemampuan literasi statistik adalah kemampuan untuk memahami, dan
menarik kesimpulan statistik. Pengetahuan dasar matematika adalah pengetahuan
matematika awal atau mendasar yang dipelajari pada jenjang pendidikan sebelum
mempelajari materi matematika lain. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian mixed
method yang bertujuan untuk (1) mendeskripsikan PDM siswa; (2)
mendeskripsikan KLS siswa; (3) mendeskripsikan KLS ditinjau dari PDM siswa;
dan (4) mengkaji pengaruh PDM terhadap KLS siswa. Populasi penelitian ini
adalah siswa kelas IX SMPN 12 Konawe Selatan yang berjumlah 104 siswa dari 4
kelas. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling
dan purposive sampling, sehingga diperoleh sampel 62 siswa dari 3 kelas. Teknik
pengumpulan data melalui tes pilihan ganda untuk mengukur PDM siswa, dan tes
essay untuk mengukur KLS siswa. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial.
Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) PDM siswa kelas IX SMPN 12 Konawe Selatan
memiliki nilai rata-rata sebesar 53,06. Mayoritas siswa memiliki kategori PDM
sedang (sebesar 69,36% siswa); (2) KLS siswa kelas IX SMPN 12 Konawe selatan
memiliki nilai rata-rata sebesar 43,76. Mayoritas siswa memiliki kategori KLS
sedang (sebesar 77,42% siswa); (3) siswa dengan PDM tinggi mampu mencapai
beberapa indikator KLS diantaranya menyajikan data dan representasinya dan
menginterpretasikan data, siswa dengan PDM sedang mampu mencapai salah satu
indikator KLS yaitu indikator menyajikan data dan representasinya, sementara
siswa dengan PDM rendah belum mampu mencapai semua indikator KLS; (4)
terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan pengetahuan dasar matematika terhadap
kemampuan literasi statistik.

Statistical literacy ability is the ability to understand and draw statistical
conclusions. Basic mathematical knowledge is initial or basic mathematical
knowledge that is learned at the educational level before studying other
mathematical material. This research is a mixed-method study that aims to (1)
describe students' mathematical basic knowledge (PDM); (2) describe students'
statistical literacy skills (KLS); (3) describe KLS in terms of students' PDM; and
(4) examine the influence of PDM on students' KLS. The population of this study
is ninth-grade students at SMPN 12 Konawe Selatan, totaling 104 students from
4 classes. The sampling technique used is cluster random sampling and purposive
sampling, resulting in a sample of 62 students from 3 classes. Data collection
techniques include multiple-choice tests to measure students' PDM and essay
tests to measure students' KLS. The data is analyzed descriptively and
inferentially. The results of this study are (1) the average score of students' PDM
in ninth grade at SMPN 12 Konawe Selatan is 53.06. The majority of students
fall into the moderate PDM category (69.36% of students); (2) the average score
of students' KLS in ninth grade at SMPN 12 Konawe Selatan is 43.76. The
majority of students fall into the moderate KLS category (77.42% of students);
(3) students with high PDM are able to achieve several KLS indicators, including
presenting data and its representation, and interpreting data. Students with
moderate PDM can achieve one KLS indicator, which is presenting data and its
representation, while students with low PDM have not been able to achieve all
KLS indicators; (4) there is a significant influence of basic mathematical
knowledge on statistical literacy skills.
